Low Calorie Diet
A diet for low calorie should be adequate in all ares except calories.The number of calories prescribed on such a diet will depend on a physicians advice.If the Caloric intake becomes extremely low .then it is difficult to include an adequate amount of other nutrients.To insure sufficient nutrient for all body functions,1200-1500 calories a day of nutritions food are recommended.
The following foods should be included every day:
Milk And Milk Products:One pint,600cc or more,pf skim milk is important.Cream should be avoided.Skim milk, or low-fat cottage cheese is an excellent source of protein.
Bread Or Cereals:At least six servings a day should be included.They may be chosen from 1/2 cup of cold or cooked cereal,a slice of whole-grain or enriched bread.1/2 cup of rice,or two to three crackers,depending on the size.
Fruits And Vegetables:At least two to three serving of fruit should be included every day.Two to three generous servings of vegetables or salad greens are suggested.Watery or green vegetables such as cabbage,cauliflower,celery,cucumber,eggplant,all types of greens,radishes,spinach,vegetables are much higher in calories and the amount should be limited to 1/2 cup per day;these include beets,carrots, onion,turnips and parsnips.
Meat,Fish,Poultry And Diet:At least one to two servings a day,five to six ounces of meat,fish,poultry should be allowed.Meats should be broiled,braised pr boiled but not fried.Three eggs each week are suggested.
Fats And Sugars:"HIDDEN FAT" is found salad dressings,pastries,some meats and in fried foods.One tablespoon of mayonnaise has 11 grams of fat or 99 calories eggs.A 100 calorie cake doughnut has 45 calories from fat.
